Nicole Gerbrandt is the Director of Education, West Coast N.E.S.T. (Nature. Education. Sustainability. Transformation.), an initiative of the Clayoquot Sound UNSECO Biosphere Region (CSBR) in British Columbia, Canada, developed to advance the region’s education tourism economy.
Facilitated by the NEST marketing platform, Nicole works with over 40 businesses and organizations to support the development and delivery of local capacity building programs, the development of new learning programs for tourists, and to increase demand for education tourism programs.
With a MSc in Ecology from Simon Fraser University and a Certificate in Sustainable Tourism from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, Nicole combines her experiences working in coastal sciences with a passion for connecting people with educational and cultural learning opportunities, to assist the CSBR communities in living sustainably in a healthy ecosystem, with a diversified economy, and strong, vibrant, and united cultures.
