About This Live Session Recording

This session focuses on socioeconomic impacts and local community benefits, and discuss how economic opportunities for the local community may be created and optimized throughout the tourism supply chain.

We'll learn from our expert, Jeremy Sampson (Ecosystem Programme Communications Officer, IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation), about the Mediterranean Experience of Ecotourism (MEET) Network, which supports sustainable development of the region through ecotourism in protected areas and the diversification of tourism offerings through the framework of cross-border cooperation, and the Mediterranean Ecotourism Destination (DestiMED) project which builds on the planning and marketing approaches created and tested through MEET and develops ecotourism standards and monitoring tools, with the aim of building pre-conditions for a Mediterranean destination management organization (DMO) that will harmonize quality standards and tools to monitor compliance, propose attractive ecotourism offers promoted through a lasting brand.
