WHAT: Sustainable Tourism 2016, 7th International Conference on Sustainable Tourism organized by Wessex Institute |
Sustainable Tourism Themes
Tourism is an important component of social and economic development and cultural and environmental sustainability. At the same time, the tourism industry has given rise to some serious problems: many ancient local cultures have practically lost their identity; natural and cultural landscapes have paid a high price for certain forms of tourism. In response to these challenges, tourism should play an active role in creating intelligent strategies focused on nature and rural culture.
In this context, Sustainable Tourism 2016 aims to find ways to protect the natural and cultural landscape through the development of new solutions which minimise the adverse effects of tourism. This can be achieved through new strategies involving the active collaboration of society as a whole. Some of the main conference topics include: tourism strategies, tourism as a tool for development, heritage tourism, wildlife and adventure tourism, sport tourism, urban tourism, and tourism and protected areas.
