European Ecotourism Conference

The second European Ecotourism Conference (Poiana Brașov, Romania, 23-25 October 2013), organized by the Association of Ecotourism in Romania and partners, brings together ecotourism practitioners from across the continent and beyond, with the goal of addressing key questions around European ecotourism standards, European ecotourism destinations, and marketing opportunities for travel products focusing on ecotourism and protected areas.

The conference program focuses on these questions and discussion points:

  1. How can we create a set of standards for ecotourism in Europe that will be supported by a wide range of industry stakeholders?
  2. How can the industry strengthen awareness of the concept of ecotourism destination as one of the main tools for nature conservation and regional sustainable development?
  3. How can the concept of ecotourism destination aggregate a common interest of the main ecotourism and protected areas promoters in Europe in order to better communicate with the general public and potential tourists?
