Although originally from Montréal, Canada, Dr. D'Arcy Dornan is the Brazil Country Representative for the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) and serves also as a GSTC Trainer. Aside from this online GSTC Sustainable Tourism course, D’Arcy also helped to transform the GSTC criteria into one module of a 12 module online graduate degree program in innovation and entrepreneurship in sustainable tourism businesses with Senac University in Brasil. It is from his work in Brasil that D’Arcy also became involved in the Sustainability Leaders Project.
D'Arcy has been director of programs and professor/researcher at public and private institutions of higher education in China, the U.S., France, Brazil, and Canada. He is currently in China working on a Sino-Canadian partnership with Royal Roads University and the Jinhua Polytechnic teaching such courses as cross-cultural tourism, human resources management, etc., as well as engaging in other international business training and development projects. D’Arcy has worked in the tourism and hospitality industry in such areas as tour development and management, F&B operations, event planner, social media manager to today providing consultancy or representative services to various organizations, globally.
He completed his Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis, where he specialized in sustainable tourism development. His Master’s degree is from the Sorbonne, Université de Paris 1, and his Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University and the University of Bristol, U.K.
